David Zhen

Biography

Dr. David Zhen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. He is a gastrointestinal medical oncologist and cares for patients with all gastrointestinal malignancies but has a specific clinical and research focus in neuroendocrine neoplasms and gastroesophageal cancers. He helped to develop and co-leads the neuroendocrine tumor board and neuroendocrine program at his institution.  He is a member of the Neuroendocrine Tumor and Adrenal Guidelines Panel for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and serves as an early career member of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Neuroendocrine Task Force. 

His research is focused on identifying new therapies through clinical trials incorporating translational research with the goal of identifying biomarkers that better predict response and resistance to therapy. He is currently the national PI for an NCI sponsored trial in neuroendocrine carcinoma. He also serves as the local PI for multiple industry sponsored clinical trials as well as has and continues to develop investigator initiated clinical trials for neuroendocrine and gastroesophageal cancers.
